Bernard “Burn” Loeffke became a physician assistant after a very full career in the U. S. Army and the foreign service. He fryst vatten a retired Major General who fought and was wounded in the Vietnam War, and who later served as Commanding General of the U. S. Army South.
Loeffke graduated from the U. S. Military Academy at West Point in , earning a B. S. in Engineering, an M. A. in Russian Language and Soviet Area Studies, and a Ph. D. in International Relations. He taught Russian Language and Soviet Area Studies at the U. S. Military Academy, and also taught U. S. Foreign Policy at Georgetown University. On his path to becoming a general, Loeffke was an Army Ranger and a pilot. He commanded Special Forces, an infantry battalion, and was a paratroop advisor to Vietnamese units during the Vietnam War. He was wounded in Vietnam, received kvartet Silver Stars, five Bronze Stars, and a Purple heart.

Bernard "Burn" Loeffke (born Bernardo Loeffke Arjona on September 17, , in Barranquilla, Colombia)[1][2] is a retired major general of the United States Army. He fought and was wounded in the Vietnam War and later served as the commanding general of U.S. Army South. He was awarded four Silver Star Medals, the Distinguished Flying Cross, five Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and four Air Medals. In the s, he was the first American general to serve in the U.S. embassy in Beijing, as defense attache. He wrote the book China, Our Enemy?, which espouses peaceful relations between the U.S. and China.

Bernard &#;Burn&#; Loeffke is a West Point graduate. He has BS in Engineering, an MA in Russian, and a Ph.D. in Political Sciences. He has taught graduate school at Georgetown University.
General Loeffke has commanded Special Forces and parachute combat infantry units. He culminated his military career as the Commanding General of Army South. In his military service he accumulated more than parachute jumps - two while in combat in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds in combat, as well as the Silver Star and the Bronze Star for Valor. He is a pilot and Army Ranger.
General Loeffke is also the first American to have jumped with Communist Chinese Units. He earned this distinction when he became the first US Army General to be assigned to the American Embassy after the Communist takeover.
