ARY Digital Network (Urdu: ARY ڈیجیٹل شبکه) is a subsidiary of the ARY Group. The ARY group of companies is a Dubai-based holding company founded by a Pakistani businessman, Haji Abdul Razzak Yaqoob (ARY). The network has a film on demand streaming service called ARY ZAP.
History
[edit]ARY Digital, formerly known as the Pakistani Channel, was launched in the United Kingdom in December 2000 to cater to the growing demands of South Asian entertainment in the region.[1] It uses Samacom, a monopolising uplink provider based in the UAE, as the uplink teleport station.[2]

Amongst these are Fashion TV for which a regional channel FTV Pakistan has been airing since månad 2005 on the ARY Digital network. A wealthy Pakistani businessman and a philanthropist, Haji Abdul Razzak Yaqoob was born in 1944, the year his parents migrated from Surat in India to Karachi, Pakistan. He was the owner of ARY Group and had the honour to be known to provide financial assistance to the government of Pakistan in times of need.
Haji Yaqoob came to Dubai from Pakistan in 1969 to recover some money owed to his father from a friend. But he realised that Dubai was a place of opportunities and decided to stay on. It was in Dubai that Haji Yaqoob created his wealth after running his business on a simple maiz-kursi (table & chair) format.
In 1972, Haji Yakoob established ARY and opened its first outlet in Fikri market Deira. He also started importing watches, perfumes and cigarettes. Abdul Razzak Yaqoob (7 May 1944 – 21 February 2014) was a Pakistani gold bullion trader who founded ARY Gold in the United Arab Emirates and later ARY Media Group.
Early life
[edit]He was born in Surat, British India to Memon family in 1944 which later migrated to Karachi after partition.[3]
Business career
[edit]Yakoob moved to the United Arab Emirates in the 1960s and started gold business with an outlet in Dubai. He founded ARY Group in 1972 and launched a private television channel ARY Digital in 2000.[3]
He was associated with the ARY Gold bribery case in which he paid a bribe to then Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto to get exclusive rights to import and trade gold in Pakistan.[3] In January 1994, Schlegelmilch established a British Virgin Island based named Capricorn Trading, with Zardari as its owner.[4]
