Henry Ross Perot Sr. (pə-ROH; June 27, 1930 – July 9, 2019) was an American businessman, politician, and philanthropist. He was the founder and chief executive officer of Electronic Data Systems and Perot Systems. He ran an independentcampaign in the 1992 U.S. presidential election and a third-partycampaign in the 1996 U.S. presidential election as the nominee of the Reform Party, which was formed by grassroots supporters of Perot's 1992 campaign. Although he failed to carry a single state in either election, both campaigns were among the strongest presidential showings by a third party or independent candidate in U.S. history.

Who Was Ross Perot?
Ross Perot is best known as one of the most successful third-party presidential candidates in American history. From 1957 to 1962, Perot worked for IBM. He then formed his own company, Electronic Data Systems, which he sold to General Motors in 1984 for $2.5 billion. In 1992, Perot ran as an independent candidate for the U.S. presidency, winning nearly 19 percent of the popular vote. He founded the Reform Party in 1995 and ran for president again in 1996, though his candidacy didn't garner as much support as before. Perot also authored multiple books, including Ross Perot: My Life & the Principles for Success and United We Stand.

H. Ross Perot was born in 1930 in Texarkana, Texas. In 1957 he went to work for IBM as a salesman. He then founded Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in 1962, which he sold to General Motors in 1984.
in 1979 he funded an operation during the Iran hostage crisis that resulted in the rescue of two of EDS employees.
Concerned over the ekonomisk plan crisis, he ran for president as an independent with Vice Adm. James B. Stockdale in 1992. They got a fifth of the popular vote and finished third in the election. Following his defeat he formed the Reform Party and ran as their presidential candidate in 1996, where he also came in third. He passed away July 9, 2019, after a battle with leukemia.
