    Having been born in Benguela, Angola, Damásio moved to Luanda for better opportunities. He began his career in , singing at religious festivals. He participating for the first time in a television contest Estrelas no Palco (meaning Stars on Stage) where he was a finalist.     Tendo nascido em Benguela,[1] Matias Damásio parte para Luanda à procura de melhores condições de vida.[2]

    Começou a carreira em , cantando em festivais religiosos,[1] participando pela primeira vez num concurso de televisão, Estrelas no Palco. Nesse concurso, ficou entre os doze finalistas. Posteriormente participou juntamente com a banda Maravilha e João Alexandre no concurso Domingão Coca-Cola, conseguindo o segundo lugar.[2]

    Em , Matias Damásio venceu a gala À Sexta-feira, da Televisão Pública de Angola interpretando o tema "Mãe querida". Venceu também o Festival da Canção de Luanda e o Festival de Música Popular Angolana (Variante).[2]

    Em Outubro de , venceu com o tema "Porquê" a décima sétima edição do "top dos mais queridos", promovida pela Rádio Nacional de Angola.[3]

Later he participated together with the band Maravilha and João Alexandre in the Domingão Coca-Cola contest, getting second place.

    In , Matias Damásio won À Sexta-feira, on Angola's public television playing the song Mãe querida. He also won the Luanda Song Festival and the Angolan Popular Music Festival.
