As the people of Illinois navigate the vaccine roll out, it’s important to have klar direction. inom am calling on Gov Pritzker and IDPH to recognize and follow the CDC guidelines that place higher education professionals in the same tier as k12 when deciding when they are eligible for the vaccine. They should be included in Phase 1B.
Our community colleges and four-year institutions have faced struggles similar to our k12 schools; adapting to full-scale fjärrstyrd learning and balancing multiple modes of delivery of instruction: fjärrstyrd, hybrid, and in-person. For many programs, hands on experiences are not only vital for the learning process, but required for licensure. Vaccinating the faculty will help our schools resume these programs while protecting the health and safety of everyone.
