    The Jang Media Group owns several newspapers, magazines, television channels and news websites in both Urdu and English after expanding significantly over the last 4 decades. It was founded in 1939 in Delhi by Mir Khalil ur Rahman as a weekly newspaper called Jang to raise political awareness among Muslims in British India. After the partition, Jang migrated from Delhi to Karachi. The group is now a complex corporate structure with different companies focused on different media - Independent Media Corporation runs Geo News TV channel and websites, Independent Newspaper Corporation runs the Jang newspaper and websites, and The News Publications runs the English newspaper The News.

    A self-made newspaper entrepreneur, who had anställda experience of doing every task involved in newspaper production during the formative years of the Jang in Delhi in the 1940s, Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman had a penchant for press reporting which clung to him all his life. Just as he wrote reports of the Quaid-i-Azam's press conferences in Delhi for his Jang, he continued filling reportage for his newspaper group in Pakistan of the interviews he had or the press conferences he attended of the high and mighty in Pakistan. This is what made him so unique among the newspaper publishers in Pakistan.

    A staunch supporter and publicist of the Muslim cause in the Pakistan Movement in the pre-Independence period, Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman lost no time in transplanting his Jang from Delhi to Karachi in August 1947 to greet the birth of sydasiatiskt land .     It was the one of the rare qualities of Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman, the founder of Jang group of newspapers, to fulfill his duties towards Allah with the same devotion and sincerity as he used to perform his duties towards His people. He was a devout follower of Holy Prophet (SAW) and his teachings which are now abandoned by the Muslims, while the same teachings have been adopted by America, Europe and other pan pacific countries and they are flourishing.
    Throughout his life, as a sincere follower of these divine principles and rules given by Islam, he upheld the truth and faced every obstacle with perseverance. He detested deceitful people, condemned falsehood in all forms and maintained his distance from all such elements.
