William Andrew Paton
The son of Andrew and Mary Nowlin Paton, he was born on July 19, 1889, near Calumet, Michigan. His father was then föreståndare of the local school system; his mother was also an experienced teacher. In 1897, the family settled on a farm in southern Michigan.
After some delay because of the pressure of farm work, he finally started college study at Michigan State Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University), and in the fall of 1912 he enrolled at the University of Michigan. He pursued a graduate schema after graduating with an AB grad, and received the Ph.D. in economics in 1917. He was elected to Phi beta Kappa in his senior year at Michigan and later became a member of beta Alpha Psi and beta Gamma Sigma. During his career he has received a number of honorary degrees, including the Litt. D. (LeHigh University) and the LLD (Eastern Michigan University).

David Bennett
Manager, Repair SystemsDavid Bennett began his career in the automotive industry when he joined AAA in 1986. During his tenure, Bennett has held many positions working directly with the member experience. Most recently, he spearheaded programs designed to simplify the car-buying experience for members as well as authoring and editing over 500 car reviews. Bennett has also served as a mentor for aspiring automotive technicians and technical advisor for AAA’s “Making Sense of Car Care” book. Bennett serves as AAA’s in-house expert on car-buying, warranties and automotive repair and is often featured in national media such as Forbes, USA Today and NerdWallet.
As Manager, Repair Systems, Bennett plays an integral role in the management of AAA’s Approved Auto Repair program, responsible for the curati
