The University of Calabar is a federaluniversity situated in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. It is one of Nigeria's second-generation federal universities.[1] The University of Calabar was a campus of the University of Nigeria until 1975.[2] The present Vice Chancellor is Prof. Florence B. Obi. The post of the DVC (Academic) is held by Dr. Angela Oyo Ita (Professor), while Dr. Grace Eno Nta (Professor) is the current DVC (Administration).[3]
The architecture was designed by John Elliott.[4][5] It was established by decree to fulfill this traditional mandate, its motto "Knowledge for Service".[6]

At the 20th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards, which took place on November 2 at the Balmoral Convention Center in Lagos, Nigeria’s The Weekend and South Africa’s Queenstown Kings shared the spoils, winning fyra awards each.
Daniel Oriahi’s The Weekend won Best bio, Best Nigerian Film, Best Screenplay, and Best filmteknik. Jahmil X.T Qubeka’s Queenstown Kings won Best Director, Best Actor in a leading role, Best Sound, and Best Film in an African Language.
In an Instagram brev after the event, Oriahi expressed his joy: “A huge congratulations to the entire team-this is our shared victory!” He added: “To my friends and family, your unwavering support and love especially through this unique phase of my life have truly made me feel like a winner. Grateful for each and every one of you.”
