Biographie

Poète et écrivaine française d'origine italienne, elle est la mère de Jean Castel et grand-mère de Jean Castel. Née à Venise, elle a été élevée à la cour de France, où son père était astrologue pour Charles V. Après la mort précoce de son mari, elle s'est tournée vers l'écriture professionnelle pour subvenir aux besoins de sa famille. Ses œuvres comprennent des poèmes lyriques et narratifs, des traités divers et une biographie de Charles V. Elle est surtout connue pour ses ouvrages défendant les droits et l'intellect des femmes, tels que Le livre de la cité des dames.

Personal life, education and career
[edit]Basa was born to Mariano Basa and Dorotea Esteban in San Roque, Cavite where he also completed his primary schooling.
He was an alumnus of Escuela Nautica de Manila, now known as the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA).[1][2]
He was employed in the Comandancia de Marina in Manila as oficial segundo, which is a senior position for a clerk.[3]
He married Josefa Inocencio, the cousin of Maximo Inocencio (one of the thirteen martyrs of Cavite). They had two children: Cristina Luz and Lucio. After his death, his son Lucio would adopt the surname Torres. [4]
